15th Sep 2012
On September 15th 2012, Mark Raven, Kevin Standrin and Howard & Greg Johnson will begin to walk from St Bees Head in Cumbria, some 200 miles across Northern England following in the footsteps of Wainwright’s classic Coast to Coast Walk. The walk is scheduled to last for 12 days and take in 3 National Parks before ending at Robin Hood Bay in Scarborough.
In addition to raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and The Anthony Nolan Trust the walk is being specifically undertaken in memory of Calum with the bulk of the proceeds going to The Niemann-Pick Desease Group.
Mark Raven, Calums uncle, explained the walk by saying "The walk was planned in November 2011. Sadly since then Calum has left us, but we decided to go ahead with the walk nonetheless in his memory and as a celebration of the joy and happiness he brought to others in his short life".
The cost of the walk (and all beer consumed!) is being met by the team members so all monies raised will go to Charity.
